Fortaleza will host the 6th Brazil Beach Sailing Cup from August 13 to 16, one of the leading events on Brazil’s national sailing calendar. The competition will bring together more than 60 athletes from the states of Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Piauí, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro.

Organized by the Brazilian Sailing Confederation (CBVela) in partnership with the Fortaleza Yacht Club and the Ceará State Sailing and Motor Federation (FVMEC), the event celebrates the diversity of Brazilian sailing by bringing together traditional sailing classes and wind sports in a single competition. Races will be held in the ILCA (Laser), Dinghy, Hobie Cat 16, Kite Foil, Wing Foil, TT Racing Kitesurf, traditional jangada sailing boats, and other classes included in the official schedule.

Brazil's top sailors will be in Fortaleza for the Copa Brasil

According to CBVela President Daniel Azevedo, the importance of the Brazil Beach Sailing Cup goes beyond the competition itself. “This event plays a key role in both the sporting and operational preparation for the 2027 World Sailing Championships, which will also be held in Fortaleza, further establishing our city as one of the world’s leading destinations for wind sports,” said Azevedo.

Kitesurfing is one of the disciplines that attracts athletes the most

The program will also feature a special attraction for kitesurfers: the 1st Sertões Kitesurf Challenge 2026, organized in partnership with the Sertões Institute. Contestants—one male and one female athlete—will each receive a free entry to this year’s Sertões competition. The specific regulations and race date will be announced during the Brazil Beach Sailing Cup.
